A week-long academic collaboration between RIT's Vignelli Center for Design Studies and the German institute, Folkwang Institute of the Arts.
ARCHETYPE EXPLORATION
We were provided with a catalogue of silhouettes to rearrange and play with. I created a pattern with all the different possibilities - ranging from nested bowls to matcha kit. The primary idea was to contemporize everyday Indian utensils/kitchenware.
The final archetype was inspired by the combination of Matryoshka dolls (Russian nesting dolls) and Indian earthenware.
Designed to function as both a practical dining solution and a sculptural centerpiece. The bowls nest within each other allowing for compact storage, and the varying heights add depth and flow.
3D VISUALIZATION
The colors have been inspired by the Vignelli color palette of bold and bright. The proposed material is borosilicate glass.
